Chief's Head Busts Out of a Limestone Wall

If you ever visit Dublin, Ohio, make sure to check out the Chief Leatherlips Monument, a 12-foot-high portrait of a great Indian chief that seems to be busting out of a wall. Chief Leatherlips was known as a good friend of both Indians and white settlers. He earned the name Leatherlips because of "his admirable trait of never breaking a promise."

His life took a dark turn when, in 1810, Leatherlips' brother Roundhead, a fellow Wyandot chief, ordered his execution. Sadly, it's was because of exaggerated charges of witchcraft, though many believed it was really for his desire for all to get along, or in other words, for his willingness to cooperate with white settlers.

 This massive monument was commissioned by the Dublin Arts Council. Boston artist Ralph Helmick created and then finished it in 1990 using native limestone slabs. Interestingly, visitors can actually go inside the sculpture and stand on the head of the chief. 12 more images Continue Reading

1. Rovos Rail, South Africa

This is a private railway company operating out of Capital Park Station in Pretoria.

Named the Pride of Africa it is one of the world's top 25 trains because of its excellent accommodation, public spaces, service, dining and off-train sightseeing.

The company was started in 1989 by Rohan Vos and is still family owned.

The trains consist of restored South African coaches with two lounges, two restaurant cars, private sleeping compartments, each with private ensuite facilities.

The Thousand Islands is the name of an archipelago of islands that straddle the Canada-U.S. border in the Saint Lawrence River as it emerges from the northeast corner of Lake Ontario. They stretch for about 50 miles (80 km) downstream from Kingston, Ontario. The Canadian islands are in the province of Ontario, the U.S. islands in the state of New York. The islands, which number 1,864 in all, range in size from over 40 square miles (100 km2) to smaller islands occupied by a single residence, to even smaller uninhabited outcroppings of rocks that are home to migratory waterfowl. The number of islands was determined using the criteria that any island must be above water level all year round, have an area greater than 1 square foot (0.093 m2), and support at least one living tree.

Vidya Balan in New Picture "Kahani"

Since the time Vidya Balan stepped into Bollywood, she has been known for portraying difficult roles with ease and poise. After Paa, Ishqiya and No One Killed Jessica, Vidya will be next seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani.

Kahaani is a story of a pregnant woman who is on the look-out for her husband who’s gone missing. The film has been majorly shot in Kolkata.

Vidya Balan made sure that no one was allowed to smoke on the sets of Kahaani. If any such day passed that no-one was caught with a cigarette, not even the chain smokers, she celebrated the day with cake and chocolates for everyone.

Even Sujoy was not permitted to smoke on the sets. On occasion, when he tried a sneak, he was caught on camera by crew members and then punished by the actress.
